A fire broke out at a yakiniku restaurant on Xiangshang Road Section 1 in Taichung's West District at around 4 p.m. today. The Taichung City Fire Department dispatched 8 units including seven squads and the Zhonggang branch, with a total of 16 fire trucks, 3 ambulances, and 58 firefighters responding to the scene. The building was a single-story RC structure, and firefighters rescued 2 trapped individuals who were found unresponsive. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and further details on the extent of the damage are pending. Other related incidents reported include a fire at a yakiniku restaurant canopy in Taichung, a fatal incident involving 2 part-time workers at Chung Shan Medical University, and a large fire at a paper mill in Guanyin, Taoyuan during the evening with intense flames due to multiple flammable materials.
