A fire broke out at an appliance store in Zhongxing Road, Shengang Township, Changhua County in the early morning hours. The owners of the house, a family of five who were sleeping on the second floor, woke up to thick smoke. Firefighters guided them to block the door crack with cloth to stop the smoke, and helped them evacuate to the bedroom. After controlling the fire for over 20 minutes, firefighters entered the second floor and rescued all five individuals, who suffered from smoke inhalation but were not in critical condition. The cause of the fire and extent of property damage are under investigation.
