A fire erupted at Chatuchak market in Bangkok, Thailand, in the early hours of June 12, destroying 118 shops, many of which were located in the area housing live animals. The fire, caused by a short circuit from a fan left running all night to keep the animals cool, resulted in the deaths of thousands of birds, dogs, cats, and other animals. The market, a popular destination for both locals and tourists, is known for its narrow alleys packed with thousands of shops. The pet area affected by the fire was about 1400 square meters and had been criticized for poor animal living conditions. Luckily, no casualties among employees have been reported.
