On June 22, 2024, at 12:33 AM, a fire emerged from a manhole cover in New Taipei City, emitting black smoke and a burnt odor. Nearby in Wanli District around 8:30 PM on the 21st, a fire incident occurred. Firefighters arrived to cordon off the area and set up warning signs, while Taiwan Power Company cut off electricity to assist in repairs, affecting around 40 households due to damaged cables caused by unauthorized connections. Power was restored half an hour later, and the fire was extinguished around 1 AM. No injuries were reported, but it disrupted some local businesses.
