On June 22, the Agricultural Department of Kinmen received a report of a pig carcass found on Lietyu Beach, which tested positive for African swine fever virus. Quarantine personnel cremated and buried the carcass on-site, disinfected individuals, vehicles, and equipment that came in contact. This marks the first case this year of a pig carcass drifting to shore and testing positive for African swine fever. Authorities urge vigilance due to the severe situation of African swine fever in Asia and emphasize the strengthening of border quarantine measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
