TTV News Network reported on July 2, 2024, at 2:27 a.m. that Pingtung County's Little Liuqiu is a popular tourist destination, attracting many visitors during the summer holidays. To alleviate the ecological impact of the crowd, the county government started collecting a marine conservation fee of 60 yuan per visitor from July 1. The revenue will be used to maintain natural ecosystems, making it the first offshore town in Taiwan to collect tourism conservation fees. Starting July 1, visitors entering 3 intertidal zones like Shanfu, Yuchengwei, and Duzai Ping will be charged 60 yuan for marine conservation fees, which will be dedicated to the sustainable management and conservation of natural ecological resources and the environment, including promoting conservation concepts, conducting conservation education, training management personnel, investigating and restoring natural ecosystems, and other initiatives beneficial to promoting natural ecological conservation efforts.
