A large number of fish carcasses were found floating in Kaohsiung's Houjing River due to low dissolved oxygen levels caused by the hot weather. The Environmental Protection Bureau conducted water quality tests and confirmed that the high temperatures led to decreased dissolved oxygen, resulting in the mass deaths of fish. The bureau has reported the incident to the Water Resources Agency for fish removal and will enhance inspections of upstream factories to prevent similar occurrences.
