Since taking control of Afghanistan three years ago, the Taliban have imposed their interpretation of Islamic law and maintained governance with a focus on internal cohesion. Despite a lack of international recognition, they engage with major powers and manage to govern effectively on some levels. However, economic challenges persist, especially due to significant foreign aid dependency and restrictions on women's participation in the workforce. While they present a facade of stability, security remains precarious for women and minorities amid ongoing violence.
