Due to vigorous convective cloud systems in the afternoon, Taiwan is prone to short-term heavy rain. The Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain alert for 12 counties and cities today (6th) at 2:46 pm, with national alarms sounding in Hsinchu County and Miaoli County. The affected areas include Keelung's North Coast, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, mountainous areas of Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and mountainous areas of Pingtung County. The alert is in effect from the afternoon to the evening of the 6th, warning of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, flash floods, landslides, rockfalls, debris flows, and low visibility. Additionally, the Bureau issued a thunderstorm message for Hsinchu County and Miaoli County until 3:45 pm today. Readers are advised to take precautions against severe weather conditions.
