On June 28, 2024, at 4:50 a.m., a major thunderstorm in the Wuliao area of Sanxia, New Taipei City, caused landslides and mudflows, leading to the evacuation of 9 residents. The Central Weather Bureau issued immediate alerts for New Taipei City and Taipei City, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, winds above 9 on the Beaufort scale, rapid river/stream rises, flood risks in low-lying areas, and reduced visibility. Although the rain has subsided and the water levels are decreasing, mud and debris still remain uncleared; firefighters are on standby until the area is confirmed safe.
