Flight Attendant Receives Compensation of 450,000 NT Dollars for Unsuccessful Transfer Request During Pandemic Pregnancy Leave

Reported 12 months ago

A flight attendant surnamed Zhang had applied for a transfer to ground staff due to pregnancy four years ago but was unsuccessful due to the pandemic, resulting in about 18 months of unpaid leave before seeking compensation of over 1.85 million NT dollars for unpaid wages, later receiving a court-ordered compensation of over 450,000 NT dollars as the court deemed the unpaid leave as 'no-pay leave'. The court considered the leave as a pandemic-related 'no-pay leave' and ruled in favor of compensating the basic wages for that period. Zhang had been employed by an airline for over 20 years and had requested leave due to pregnancy, intending to transfer temporarily to ground staff, ultimately leading to the legal dispute. The court decision can be appealed.
