Florida A&M University celebrated a promised $237 million donation from 30-year-old Gregory Gerami, believed to be Texas' youngest African American industrial hemp producer, which turned out to be questionable. Despite the ceremony, the donation is now in limbo as it appears that Gerami's company lacks transparency and the donated shares value is uncertain. Other universities that engaged with Gerami's proposals have also seen no fruition, raising concerns about due diligence and financial stability for FAMU and similar institutions.
