Following a record amount of rainfall hitting south Florida, Broward, Collier, Lee, Miami-Dade, and Sarasota counties have been declared under a state of emergency by Governor Ron DeSantis, with Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and other cities also declaring emergency situations. The flooding, affecting cities like Naples, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale, has caused water levels to rise dangerously on roads and in parking lots, with ongoing recovery efforts underway and warnings issued to avoid driving through flooded areas to prevent further incidents.
