Reported 11 months ago

As the flu epidemic continues to escalate, Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control has announced an expansion of the coverage for public antiviral flu drugs starting immediately until July 31st. Those with flu-like symptoms and contact with individuals who have developed similar symptoms are now eligible, with a focus on timely intervention. Recent data has shown an increase in flu emergency room visits and circulation of the A/H1N1 flu virus. With 214 deaths out of 1144 severe cases recorded this flu season, the availability of public antiviral drugs has been extended in response to the high number of severe cases and hospitalizations. The public is advised to seek medical attention if experiencing flu-like symptoms and adhere to personal hygiene practices to prevent further spread of the virus.
