Food Safety Concerns Rise Again? Sudan Red Detected in Indian Red Chili Pigment, 200 Kilograms Destroyed at Border

In another food safety concern, the Food and Drug Administration announced that 200 kilograms of Indian red chili pigment (oil-based) were found to contain Sudan Red No. 4. The products were deemed non-compliant and had to be destroyed at the border. This discovery is part of the FDA's increased surveillance on imported food items, with various products from different countries such as China, Japan, Myanmar, and Malaysia found to have issues ranging from excessive pesticide residue to unauthorized color additives.
