Former Army private Dai You-wei, who retired from the Artillery Training Command in Taiwan, was recruited by Chinese intelligence while working in Zhuhai, China in April 2021. He attempted to entice current soldiers to provide confidential information for payment but failed, leading to his arrest and subsequent sentencing to 2.5 years in prison for violating national security laws. Dai's appeal was quickly rejected, and the verdict was finalized by the Supreme Court. The court detailed Dai's military background, recruitment by Chinese intelligence, unsuccessful attempts to recruit soldiers, and the legal proceedings against him.
