On July 3, 2024, a woman was scammed out of 4 million New Taiwan Dollars by five suspects in New Taipei City, one of whom was revealed to be former Asian Games boxing athlete Chung Chun-an, who turned to fraud due to drug addiction after leaving the sports world. He was apprehended by the police for his involvement in monitoring victims in a debt collection scam for the gang. The authorities took swift action, arresting the suspects and freezing accounts after a victim was deceived through fake celebrity social media accounts and was conned into transferring money. Chung, who had a promising career in boxing, ruined his future by becoming part of a fraudulent group.
