Taipei District Court sentenced former Chairman of Bio-tech giant Kangyo-KY, Huang Wenlie and others for embezzling and defrauding investors of 20.1 billion New Taiwan dollars. Huang was sentenced to 25 years in prison for securities law violations among other charges, fined 2 million NT dollars, and ordered to return illicit gains of over 204.7 million USD and over 6.7 billion NT dollars to victims. Huang was accused of false financial reporting and securities fraud spanning from 2014 to 2020. Other defendants in the case received prison sentences ranging from 7.5 to 9 years for their involvement in the scheme.
