Mainland Affairs Council Vice Chairman Liang Wen-Jie emphasized that the identity of the chairman does not impede communication with the counterpart (China). President Lai Ching-Te had favored Wu for the position. Media speculated that the chairman is independent Wu. Liang Wen-Jie, during a legislative committee inquiry, noted that the next chairman selection plan will be reported soon.
