Reported over 1 year ago

Mashdigi reported on June 20, 2024 at 10:50 am that Ilya Sutskever, the co-founder and former chief scientist of OpenAI who announced his departure in May, has announced the establishment of Safe Superintelligence (SSI), an AI technology security company, in collaboration with Daniel Gross, co-founder of the personal assistant service 'Cue' and former leader of Apple's AI team, as well as Daniel Levy, chairman of Tottenham Hotspur. Sutskever mentioned that the company's name reflects its mission of safe development, emphasizing that security is at the core of their product design philosophy. This move follows speculation about reasons for Sutskever's departure from OpenAI, suggesting differences in ideologies, and highlights his belief in refocusing on user safety and privacy protection. Safe Superintelligence has already set up offices in Palo Alto, California, and Tel Aviv, Israel, and is actively recruiting talent, indicating potential financial backing from Gross and Levy. The company is expected to continue fundraising efforts for further operations.
