The Yilan District Court has concluded the trial of Xu Zhixin, a former commissioner of the Yilan County Government, who is accused of violating the Anti-Corruption Act. The court session on the afternoon of June 26th included statements from the victims and defense arguments. Xu Zhixin admitted to deceiving over 10 victims and fleeing due to loan shark pressure, with a total swindled amount of 65 million NTD. The judgment is scheduled to be announced on July 24th, and Xu remains in custody. His defense claims he was not a government official and did not undertake county government projects. Yilan County terminated his employment in September 2023 for unexplained absenteeism.
