In 2015, the Taoyuan City Health Bureau discovered a pharmacy displaying expired cold medicine and planned to fine them NT$30,000, but former deputy directors Chen Shizhang and Xu Jingxin intervened. Subsequently, they were prosecuted for bribery under the Anti-Corruption Act, with Chen sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison and Xu to 2 years; Chen must serve the sentence without probation. The investigation revealed that they illicitly aided the pharmacy in evading penalties, leading to their convictions. The Control Yuan also impeached and disciplined them for their serious misconduct, resulting in dismissal and a one-year employment ban, though they can appeal.
