Former Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga, publicly urged current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to take responsibility and step down amidst pressure from within and outside his party, including a bribery scandal and a significant drop in approval ratings. Suga criticized Kishida for not handling the factional scandal properly and not fulfilling his responsibilities, stating that he is unsuitable for the role of prime minister. A survey by Kyodo News showed that only 10% of respondents support Kishida, with 36% hoping for his prompt resignation. Kishida, however, remains unfazed and expressed his intention to continue his candidacy, emphasizing that he still has an 'unfinished mission' despite the negative public image caused by the scandal involving inaccurate reporting of political funds by party members.
