Former Kinmen County Magistrate Lee Wo-shi involved in accepting bribe of one million, second trial overturned to 7.5 years in prison after 9 years of litigation

Reported about 1 year ago

Former Kinmen County Magistrate Lee Wo-shi and his wife were accused by Kinmen District Prosecutors of accepting one million NT dollars from a technology company chairman in 2011, to lower the base price of Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor and assist in promoting high-end liquor marketing in China. Lee was initially sentenced to 8 years in the first trial, then acquitted in the second trial, before the Kinmen High Court overturned it to 7.5 years in the fourth trial. The case highlighted Lee's involvement in pressuring liquor pricing despite lacking legal authority, resulting in the prosecution finding evidence of bribery leading to the conviction.
