Former Yunlin Maipu Township mayor, Tsai Chang-kun, who was previously found guilty of election fraud and had his election invalidated, is now under investigation for his involvement in intimidating and extorting a green energy company. Along with an accomplice, Tsai was found with 2.7 million illegal proceeds in his safe deposit box. The investigation revealed that Tsai led villagers to protest against the wind energy plant, using it as a means to extort money. Tsai and his accomplice were detained, while another suspect was released on bail and ordered to return the illegal gains within a month.
