Former Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsang, involved in a bribery case related to Hua Ya Science Park development during his tenure, was initially released on bail with 5 million NT dollars. However, the Taoyuan District Court later increased the bail amount to 12 million NT dollars. Cheng appeared serious as he left the court, not smiling like before. The court restricted his residence, travel, and contact with others involved. The reasons for the decision were explained by the court, emphasizing the seriousness of the suspicion of corruption and the lack of evidence for some charges.
