Former Ningxia Police Station Chief Receives Bribe from Mastermind of Fraudulent Job Seekers, Torture, and Murder Case, Sentenced to 14 Years and 8 Months in First Instance

Reported 8 months ago

Former chief of Ningxia Police Station in Datong Police Substation in Taipei, Yeh Yu-hsin, was sentenced to a total of 14 years and 8 months in prison plus a 5-year deprivation of civil rights by Shilin District Court for accepting bribes from Du Cheng-che, alias 'Lan Dao,' the mastermind of a case involving fraudulent job seekers, torture, and murder. The case, known as the 'Taiwanese version of the Cambodian case,' originated in 111 Republic of China (ROC) when the police were informed of family members being imprisoned while seeking jobs in the north, leading to the rescue of the imprisoned victims and the discovery of three dead bodies that were abandoned. The court found Yeh guilty of corruption, bribery, and money laundering offenses, while Du received a separate sentence for bribery. The investigation revealed the intricate web of fraudulent activities orchestrated by Du, including the establishment of a 'fleet' to imprison those who provided bank accounts in exchange for money, with further legal actions ongoing.
