Legislative Yuan's Internal Affairs Committee will review the Recall Act this week, with a proposed amendment by KMT legislator Hsu Yu-chen aiming to raise the recall threshold, sparking concerns about self-protection. Former legislator Chen Po-wei, invited to a public hearing, emphasized the importance of valid reasons for recalls and warned that the current Legislation Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu might be the next to face recall if the amendment passes. Chen also highlighted discrepancies in recall petition rates, pointing out the need for a bipartisan, historically sensitive solution to prevent recalls from becoming hateful situations.
