Former Manhattan prosecutor Linda Fairstein has settled her defamation lawsuit against Netflix over her portrayal in the series “When They See Us” about the Central Park Five. Fairstein argued that the series defamed her by depicting her as a racist villain, but she will not receive money in the settlement. Netflix has agreed to donate $1 million to the Innocence Project, and a disclaimer will be added to the series. Ava DuVernay, the director, maintains that Fairstein was responsible for the teens' investigation and prosecution.
