Ma Zhiwei, a former spokesperson for the Taiwan People's Party in Taoyuan City, who ran for legislator in the 1st district of Taoyuan in 2023 and received 1.06 million NTD in funds from China, has been prosecuted by the Taoyuan prosecutor for violating the National Security Law. The Taoyuan District Court ruled on the 13th that Ma could be released on bail with a deposit of 100,000 NTD but must restrict his residence, travel, and overseas activities for 8 months. Ma was previously detained and denied communication due to concerns over national security violations. He was granted bail after relinquishing cooperation with his ex-husband on financial matters.
