Former Taoyuan City Mayor and Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation, Cheng Wen-tsan, was unexpectedly taken away by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office on suspicion of corruption. After being interrogated overnight and detained, he is expected to appear in court around 11 a.m. The case is related to a land deal involving the Kweishan Formosa Plastics Park, where Cheng Wen-tsan's involvement was allegedly confirmed when he returned from Japan recently. The final decision on whether to prosecute Cheng depends on President Lai Ching-te's handling of the situation.
