Former chairman of the Mainland Affairs Council, Cheng Wen-tsan, who resigned, was involved in a corruption case during his time as the mayor of Taoyuan. He was granted bail of 5 million by the Taoyuan District Court on the 6th, with restrictions on residence, travel, and communication. The district prosecutors immediately filed an appeal, and the court expedited the process, expecting to send the appeal letter to the High Court by noon today for a speedily decision, potentially as early as tonight.
