On July 8, 2024, the Taiwan High Court ruled to revoke the previous bail decision of NT$5 million for former Taoyuan Mayor and Chairman of Straits Exchange Foundation Zheng Wen-Can, who is suspected of violating anti-corruption laws. The case was sent back to the Taoyuan District Court for further trial. Taoyuan prosecutors appealed against the bail decision, which was successfully overturned by the higher court. Zheng Wen-Can's legal battle continues as he faces allegations of corruption.
