According to Reuters on June 27, 2024, Apple supplier Foxconn faced allegations of job discrimination at its Indian factory for refusing to hire married women. The Indian government has requested a detailed report, to which Foxconn responded with five points affirming their zero-tolerance stance against discrimination. They emphasized prioritizing employee welfare, denying any discrimination based on marital status, gender, or religion, and ensuring equal job opportunities for all applicants. Foxconn also took actions in the past to rectify non-compliant recruitment advertisements by third-party agencies and reported a quarter of married female employees in India. They welcome married women to wear traditional jewelry at work.
