Franklin Templeton will liquidate two of its bond exchange-traded funds (ETFs), the Western Asset Short Duration Income ETF (WINC) and Western Asset Total Return ETF (WBND), due to a lack of investor interest. The decision, approved by the fund's board on May 21, reveals the difficulties ETF issuers face in attracting assets in a competitive market. Both funds will cease trading on August 23, 2025, with final proceeds to be distributed on August 29.
