Fraud Gang Arrested for Cheating Three Women Out of 26 Million by Posing as Facebook Tech Executive for Investments

Reported about 1 year ago

Three women - Peng, Ling, and Wang - were cheated of 26 million NT dollars between March and May this year after believing an advertisement on Facebook claiming to be from a tech company chairman offering investment opportunities in stocks. The women were lured with promises of 'stable profits without losses' and 'low costs, high income,' only to realize later that they had fallen into a scam trap. The Lin-kou police in New Taipei City arrested the main suspect and five other members involved in the fraud scheme following investigation. The gang operated by deceiving victims in Taiwan and collaborating with overseas data centers, using tactics such as setting up mobile 'water stations' in random car hotels once victims took the bait. The arrest led to the confiscation of evidence, 29 million NT dollars in illicit gains, and ongoing investigations to identify further accomplices for legal action.
