In Taipei's Beitou district, a woman reported being scammed and was directed by a police intern to set up another meeting with scammers, leading to their arrest with the help of classmates. Over 200,000 in illicit funds were confiscated. Meanwhile in Taichung, a police officer's photo was used by the fraud group to deceive victims. The police, pretending to be interested investors, organized a sting operation and arrested the scammers during a face-to-face meeting. A special task force is now in place to crack down on the audacious fraud group, while various related scams involving millions of dollars are also reported.
