Recently, some students at National Taiwan Normal University received fraudulent messages claiming to be from school administrators stating that students with half their credits failing would be expelled, and prompting them to click a link to participate in a transfer exam. The school clarified these were all false messages and that the system of 'failing half' had been abolished since 2011. Concerns arose as students feared their personal information would be compromised if they clicked on the link, but fortunately, swift actions by students contacting teachers and the administration prevented any harm. The school also notified the police to assist with the situation. Education authorities have recorded 517 scam cases in the 111th academic year, affecting 592 individuals, primarily university students, with 299 cases and 322 victims.
