Freighter Ship Collides in Lake Superior, Coast Guard Responds

A freighter ship named the Michipicoten collided with something underwater in Lake Superior, about 35 miles southwest of Isle Royale, Michigan, causing it to take on water. The ship, carrying taconite and 22 people, had half its crew evacuated by the Coast Guard due to water intake. No spills were reported, and the vessel was being pumped out and towed for inspection and repairs while investigations into the collision's cause are ongoing.
