French Version of Excalibur 'Durandal' Mysteriously Stolen After Being Chained to Cliff for 1300 Years

Reported 12 months ago

On July 3, 2024, the legendary sword 'Durandal,' known as the French version of Excalibur and stuck in a cliff for nearly 1300 years, was stolen by thieves in the town of Rocamadour, France. The local authorities suspect foul play and are investigating how the thief managed to climb the 30-foot cliff and steal the sword, which was chained to the rock. The sword, originating from the 11th-century French epic poem 'The Song of Roland,' has a long-standing legend of being wielded by the valiant knight Roland and being embedded in the cliff of Rocamadour after being thrown in defiance by him.
