Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing recorded the fastest lap of 227.206 mph during the Carb Day practice session at the Indianapolis 500, ahead of Helio Castroneves and Pato O’Ward. Dixon, starting 21st on Sunday, expressed satisfaction with his car's performance despite his lower starting position. The session also saw Team Penske winning the Pit Stop Challenge, with Josef Newgarden's crew securing the victory.
