On June 17, 2024, a front moved slightly southward towards Taiwan, leading to increased moisture in the atmosphere. Brief showers are expected in the western parts in the morning, while localized thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon in the central to northern regions, Yilan, Hualien, and mountainous areas. Temperatures across Taiwan may reach 32 to 35 degrees Celsius with potential heatwaves in the southeast exceeding 36 degrees. Rain gear is recommended when heading out. From June 19 to 23, the Pacific high-pressure system intensifies, causing hot temperatures but fewer afternoon thunderstorms. Caution should be taken to prevent heat-related injuries. Visibility may be affected by low clouds or mist in areas like Matsu and Kinmen due to the approaching front, while strong gusts may occur in coastal regions from Green Island to Hsinchu. On June 18, rain showers are expected in the western parts in the morning and thunderstorms in the central and northern regions as well as mountainous areas in the afternoon. Before June 20, low visibility in Matsu and Kinmen requires attention when traveling.
