The Federal Trade Commission has decided to file a lawsuit against mattress manufacturer Tempur Sealy to prevent its $4 billion buyout of Mattress Firm, stating the acquisition would stifle competition and lead to higher prices for consumers. Despite Tempur Sealy's belief that the industry is competitive, the FTC argues that the acquisition would give Tempur Sealy undue power in the market and harm competition, potentially driving rivals out of business.
