A fugitive surnamed Li, aged 52, was caught by police in a chase in Xizhi, New Taipei City on the night of June 20. Upon being handcuffed, Li suddenly foamed at the mouth and was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. The surveillance footage at the time of the incident showed Li pretending to cooperate initially, then accelerating and colliding with a taxi at an intersection in a bizarre slow-moion manner before being subdued by police. Li continued to struggle and shout in pain while being restrained, ultimately requiring CPR and medical attention. His cause of death is under investigation by the local prosecutor's office.
