On July 2, 2024, the third aircraft carrier of the People's Liberation Army Navy, the Fujian (18), equipped with a full flight deck, is set to undergo its third sea trial. Former Navy Captain Lu Li Shi predicted that carrier-based fighter jets might participate in Touch and Go tests. According to Lu's analysis and a maritime warning issued by the Shanghai Maritime Bureau, traffic control measures will be implemented on July 3 at the mouth of the Yangtze River during the sea trial. The focus of this test is likely to address the shortcomings of previous trials and practice joint operations with the supply ship Hulun Lake (901). Lu expects that actual aircraft landings will occur in subsequent trials as was the case with the Shandong (17) aircraft carrier. Traffic control measures will be in effect on the Yangtze River from 7 am to 4:30 pm for inbound vessels, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm for outbound vessels, and around Changxing Island Pier from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
