A worker in his 50s from a collaborating company at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan's Fukushima Prefecture died after feeling unwell during work and being sent to the hospital on June 14, 2024. Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) stated that the cause of death is unlikely to be related to the operation. The worker was found lying in the rest area of the plant and later confirmed dead at the hospital. TEPCO mentioned that the worker had no apparent signs of radiation contamination, as he wore protective gear during the ten-minute investigation of underground water quality before collapsing in the afternoon. Other workers who interacted with him did not notice any unusual discomfort. Additionally, news includes the Bank of Japan maintaining interest rates and plans to reduce government bond purchases, record-breaking heavy rain in Okinawa causing floods and flight delays at Naha Airport, and the challenging goal of attracting 10 million tourists in Taiwan’s fourth quarter despite the ongoing pandemic.
