Fund Classroom: Taiwanese Stock Market Value ETFs Competing

Reported 12 months ago

Xiao Shibin, July 3, 2024, 5:48 PM - Market value ETFs mainly consist of stocks with high market value rankings in the Taiwanese stock market, showing similar performances. Stock ETFs in Taiwan are generally divided into market value, industry, and high dividend types, with market value ETFs being the best representation of the Taiwanese securities market and a preferred investment target. Taiwan's stock ETFs are primarily market value products, with screening logic typically starting with the top market value stocks and then undergoing further selection, sorting, and weighting. Among the ten Taiwanese stock market value ETFs listed, the largest in terms of assets is the earliest issued Yuanta Taiwan 50 (0050), with net assets of $409.6 billion. The next is the Cathay 50 (006208), which tracks the same index. The performance of market value ETFs over the past five years (as of June 25) did not show significant differences, with the highest-ranked fund being Yuanta Taiwan ESG Sustainable (00850) at 172% total return, while 0050 stood at 168%. However, the difference between the highest and lowest performers was only 10%. Holding a market value ETF does not show much deviation in returns.
