A farewell ceremony in Chungli on June 18, 2024, quickly escalated into a brawl involving more than 10 individuals. At the funeral of a deceased named You, a dispute broke out between the deceased's family and mourners present when the family demanded a man named Wu to kneel in front of the altar and he refused, leading to a physical altercation. Police intervened, arrested six men, and transferred the case for legal action on charges of fighting in public and causing injuries. The incident originated from neighborly help gone awry when Wu accidentally fell while inspecting an issue at You's house, resulting in his death.
