Reported about 1 year ago

In response to a statement by the Group of Seven (G7) leaders, highlighting the importance of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait for international security and prosperity, as well as supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations, the Presidential Office spokesperson expressed sincere gratitude for the G7's concrete support. The G7 summit, held in Italy from the 13th to the 15th of June, reiterated the necessity of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait for global security and prosperity, advocating for peace resolutions to cross-strait issues, and endorsing Taiwan's participation in international organizations like the World Health Assembly (WHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) technical meetings. The statement also emphasized opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo through force or coercion and voiced concerns about China's actions in the South China Sea. Despite facing military threats and economic-political coercion from China, Taiwan remains committed to collaborating with like-minded countries to safeguard universal values such as democracy, freedom, rule of law, and human rights, as a responsible member of the regional and international community.
