In New Taipei on June 28, 2024, at 7:40 am, a private garbage truck, while passing through the Bali area, suspected to have brake failure, crashed into a roadside guardrail. Firefighters arrived on the scene and used demolition tools to rescue the driver and his colleague, who were urgently taken to the hospital. The utility pole was knocked down, resulting in a power outage for 1492 households in the vicinity, affecting businesses and causing factories to halt operations. Witnesses saw the truck speeding downhill without slowing down, overtaking other vehicles before crashing into the guardrail. The incident disrupted the neighborhood with the shop unable to do business and the factory shutting down. Repair of the power lines was delayed due to the intense heat, leaving residents without electricity and enduring the high temperatures.
